ReadAboutContentsHelp
According to the Boxer Catalogue, this is a decree condemning the Chinese Rites, written in Latin and signed and sealed by Charles Maigrot, Vicar-Apostolic of Fukien, dated Chang-lo in Fukien province, 26 March 1695. The red wax seal is in Chinese characters. At the end, it is certified as being entirely in the hand-writing of Maigrot by an autograph attestation of the Franciscan Commissary and Provincial at Canton, Fr. Jaime Tarin, O.F.M., with his autograph signature and red ink official seal, dated Canton, 19 November 1694. This is an exceptionally valuable and interesting piece." This text is in the volume with the title "PERTENECE AL/Aparador fuera de la Pared/Cajón/Númber 4/ITALONES Y CHINA/Legajos 1. /2./ 3./ 4./ 5. The volume was compiled by Pedro Orense. Images 288-291.
