from the Complainant that Respondent Betts
had come down from Tuskegee after her to go up to
Tuskegee and live with him, that he was about
getting a house to keep tavern in in Tuskegee
and did you not also learn from her that she
had consented to go up to Tuskegee and see the
place, and that she would then determine whether
she would go there and live with him or not & did
you not also learn the same thing from Betts at
the time, and did not Betts also at the same time
inform you that he had the prospect of doing
well in Tuskegee & that he was not willing to live
in Barlow County, and did not Betts then request
her to go to Col. Mills some mile & a half from there
with him & she declined- And after Betts went to the House
of Mills- Did not yourself & Complainant go to the
House of Solon [?] A. Wellborn, and did she not decline
coming to Tuskegee in consequence of your influence
with her or in consequence of what passed while at
Wellborns, Declare fully why she did not come-
and did you not hear Betts persuade Com-
plainant more than once to live with him in
Tuskegee and hear Betts state to her his reasons
why he wanted her to go to Tuskegee & why he
desired not to live in Barbour. And answer whether
you did not persuade her not to go with Betts
to Tuskegee- And did you not afterwards at
your House or where you lived in Barbour County
tell G.W. Gunn the only time Gunn was at your House
that you were opposed to her going to live with
Betts at Tuskegee that the facts as asked about
in the fore part of this interrogatory did take place
or in substance and what, fully and particularly,
state also how long Betts was there at that time.
Did not Complainant and Betts then live together
as Husband & wife. Declare fully all that you
may know which may benefit Respondent. What
relation are you to Complainant or to Solon A.
Wellborn- State where Jacob, Ann, Beck, Dinah, Ishmael,
Louisa, & Jane now are- in whose possession are they, have
they not been run off to Ga. since Betts was down
