The defendants Harrison, Brannon & Reese being
now residents and the defendant Jackson residing
out of this District & they now either of them having
any attorney of record I have this day posted up in
my Office a copy of the written interrogatories &
notice. Clayton Octr. 1st 1846. G.Rist. Register-
Cross Interrogatories for John M. Moore Complain-
ants witness in the case of M. Betts per pro amie v
G.W. Gunn et al. That part of the 2nd Interroga-
tory which asks what Respondent Gunn said about
Betts leaving his wife is objected to by respondent
Betts-
First, in answer to the 2nd direct interrogatory
you satte that you at any time had any coversa-
tion with the respondent Gunn about conveyances
and what debts he was to pay you will please
state the time when & place where said conver-
sation was had and who was present- what led
to the conversation declare fully and particu-
larly, and if Gunn said anything to you about
the payment of debts, whether he did not say to
you that the only debt which was named that
he had to pay was that portion of the debt
known as the Solomon & Taylor debt- whether
he did not say to you that his contract about
the payment of debts was that he was to pay
one thousand Dollars towards the debts due
by Respondent Betts, and whether he did not
tell you also that he had paid towards the
debts of Betts more than one thousand Dollars
and that when he made the purchase of
Betts that he had never heard of the debts
due to Brannon T.S. Jackson & the Harrison
or [G--] debt. And whether you do not
know that Betts did not when he left home
