The State of Alabama: St Clair County
At a regular term of the circuit court begun and held in for the county
of St Clair, in the State of Alabama, on the first Monday of March
in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty nine - the Honorable
John D Phelaw being the presiding judge at said court - the following
proceedings were had in the cause herein below shown to writ

The State of Alabama
St Clair County
To any sheriff of the State of Alabama
Greeting - you are hereby commanded
to take William Thweat ( if to be found in your county) and have
him before the honourable the judge of the circuit court of
St Clair County at the next term of said court to be holden
for said county at the court house [through?] in the town of
Ashville on the first monday of september next, then and there
to answer William Johnson of a plea wherefor with (?)
arms he broke and entered a certain close (?) of plaintiff lying
and being in said county and known as section Nineteen Township
Eighteen. Range Three East in Tuscaloosa Land District, and
destroyed the (?). Timber & his bage (??) growing, to the
damage of plaintiff of Twenty Thousand dollars, herein
[paid?] now and have you then and there this writ with your
endorsement thereon, [Notary?] Charles C. P. Farran, Clerk of
said Court at office in Asheville, this 9th day of June
1847, and of American Independence the 71st year
Attest Charles C P. Farran, Clerk of the current court of
St Clair County, (?) 9th day of June 1847,
Attest, Charles CP. Farran Clerk.

This action is brought to recover the within damages
for that the defendant hereuntofore, with force and arms broke
and entered the within desented close of Plaintiff, as well
as to [any?] titles to the within desented close (?) or tract of land
and to recover (?) of said land.

defendant in custody of the Shereiff in a plea of [T?] wherefore
whereupon the defendant with force and arms broke and enterered.
The plaintiffs certain close and also to any other [thereunto?]
