Cross Examination of James Cunningham
the Defendant and his attorney ZS Nabers Esq.
being present

I. 1. To the first Cross Interrogatory, he says-
Ans.-I am superintending my fathers bu-
siness, and I, and a negro of my own, work in the
crop, in which the negroes mentioned in my ex-
amination in chief, and working; and I am
to receive a part of the crop as compensation
for my services. I have no other interest in the
event of the suit.

II. 2. To the second Cross Intg. he says
Ans.- Hugh Cunningham, the complainant, is
my father

III. 3. To the third Cross Intg. he says-
Ans. My business is farming, and was the same
in March, 1843.

IV. To the fourth Cross Intg. he says-
Ans- There is no such custom, within my
knowledge, confined to Pickens County alone.

V. 5. To the fifth Cross Intg. he says-
Ans- I was not present at the execution of
said notes, or if I was, I have no recollection of it.
