the end of the year, and people are making prepa-
rations to commence a new crop.

Ans.- I know nothing about the making of the
notes mentioned in this Interrogatory

VIII To the Eighth Intg he says: -
Ans- I know nothing further, material to this cause
or of advantage to the complainant.

John Holder, of Pickens County, aged fifty one
years, being duly sworn, answers and deposes as fol-
lows:

I 1 To the first Intg. he says: -
Ans - I am, and have been partially acquainted with
Mr. Turnipseed about eleven years, and with Mr.
Cunningham about six or seven years.

II 2 To the Second Int.g. he says: -
Ans.- I am not acquainted with said slaves by
name or by sight except very slightly. I can give no
definite opinion of their value.

III. 3. To the third Intg. he says: -
Ans.- I do not know, of my own knowledge, of the birth
of any children among said slaves, since the time
mentioned in said Interrogatory.

IV. To the fourth Intg he says
I have always seen slaves at work on the complain-
