Know all men
by these presents that Silas Stevens of said state
and county for and in consideration given
sum of six hundred dollars to me in hand
paid by Alexander H Stephens the receipt whereof
is hearby acknowledged have this day bargained
and sold and hereby doth bargain sell &
convey & confirm and [??] the said Alexander
H Stephens his heirs and assigns the following
named negroes to wit Betsey about
twenty one years of age and her two children
Corrinthea & John, Corrinthia being about four
years old & John John nineteenth months old --
to have and to hold said negores to him the
said Alexander Stephens his heirs and
assignees forever -- And the right and title
to the same I do hereby warrant and will
forever defend unto him the said Alexander
H Stephens his heirs & assignees against every & all
claim or claims ad verse to the title hereby conveyed.
In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand
and seal this 18th day of February 1842
