I have been through Carroll, Haraldson Douglass & part of Polk County. I did not see half dozen Gatrell men, as the negroes call him. Please get Bishop White and Bishop Hulsey to write to the within named Coloured ministers, Rev. Sam Norwood Carroll Co. Carrollton, Rev. Joe Boyd Newnan Ga, Rev. Robert Vineyard

Douglassville, Rev. Jas. McHenry, Barnesville, Ga James Dent Fairburn Ga Rev. Davis Binkard Fairburn Ga, Tom Smith & Dick Riley Campbellton Ga, Rev. Harrison Talbot Fairburn Ga. All the above named are colored men of influence. Gartrell owned land in this County. When his Father freed his negroes Gen. Gartrell employed Gen Toombs to regain them. I am doing my best for you. I heard from Harris County, all right.
