69-2- (centre aligned) In these squadrons he took part in thirty-two operational sorties. Early in March, 1943 he was posted to No. 1 Aircraft Delivery Unit engaged in ferrying aircraft between the Middle East and Takoradi on the Gold Coast. This involved a long flight across Equatorial Africa. He carried out several of these flights until being posted on the 6th September 1943 to No. 3 Aircraft Delivery Unit engaged in ferrying aircraft along the North African coast and over the operational area in the Middle East. On the 17th May, 1944 Warrant Officer Marsh was wireless operator of a Marauder bomber aircraft which crashed on taking off, five miles south (unreadable) of Catania, Sicily, all the crew including Warrant Officer Marsh lost their lives.
