John Richard Whitehead (1844-1902) married Sallie Hunt Graves (1846-1911), JWG's daughter. They had 10 children. In 1862 he enlisted in the 6th Virginia Cavalry during the Civil War.John Richard Whitehead (1871-1955) is the fourth child of Sallie and Richard Whitehead. Later his name was changed to John Hurt.
