Pannills Bridge

Pannill's Bridge, completed in 1830, was built under the auspices of Samuel Pannill in order to replace a ferry crossing the Staunton river, making southern ports more accessible from his Green Hill Plantation. This bridge also offered the best route to Lynchburg from the other side of the river. The bridge was burned by Confederate soldiers in the Civil War.
