1851 Augt 1st Fine Rain, shrubbing corn land
Henry toped Poplars etc etc this day
2nd Fixing grain yard, worming fresh ground
Tobacco. & then shrubing Henry Hewing
gate Post & Halling some up from mountain
& some wood, still cloudy & like for Rain
4th Finished Shrubing Corn Land & sewed
Buck Wheat this day or rather 3rd —
5 Began to Dig Ice House 12 Oclock yest-
=erday & a Rain fine one last night, most
too late for Corn & tobacco too, tho both coming
out very much still cloudy & like for Rain
6th I went to Mrs McC & Mrs Coleman too, finished
Digging Ice House Halled Gate Gate Post
for Horse Lot etc etc
7th my wife gone to Mrs C. & John D Hunts put
up Gate at Horse Lot, Covering Tobacco
Barn in fresh ground & working new ground Tobacco
& Halling Logs for Ice House etc etc
11th choping & Hilling up new ground Tobacco
& Plowing Lots about House, cloudy & like
for Rain, very warm weather fine for Corn
16. we had a fine Rain first of last week
every thing has improved corn has come out very much
also Tobacco, we have during the past week
Plowed in Tobacco some worked this Lost back of
Garden wormed & Succored over & Toped our
Tobacco & gone to meeting, some has gone
every day for a week yesterday, - & the
meeting still continues, 4 or 5 professed
etc etc this day is Clear & fair, & warm
19th A fine Rain last night, we are fixing to
raise a Barn getting slabs etc choping in the
new ground, meeting still going at S. Stone
4 or five more professed
20th Rained nearly all day yesterday last night
& still continues to Rain this morning women spining
Owen gone to mill 1 Bbl Corn sentfor me, Fed & Henry gone
to Mrs McCs to raise barn rained so they will come home
certainly after awhile
