1859 April 24th Cool Day & Clear,- Sallie Came
down here friday

25. I went down to aspen Grove at Mr Shields
Lane 301 lbs Blade fodder went on down to
Mr Richards Forest & settled with him for Jim

25th Finished Coltering second years ground
to day Hilling of it, I am examining
Bro Hunts Papers etc Mr Herndon here
& Hired Bro Hunts John to make Bricks
either @ $1.25 pr day from the time he leaves
home ^ or $30 pr monthallowing him ½ to come & ½ day to go back to
his work from Seeing his wife once a week
or once a month Mr Sweny pays ½ his ferriage
& I pay the other Half.

26th like for Rain, this morning Henry laying
of[f] second yrs, balance Hilling -

27th cloudy & like for Rain & did Rain some
Halled out some manure & Hilled some &
shelled Corn some etc Mr Chumbly has been
after my Hogs did not get them

28. Halling manure & Hilling in Second
yrs ground, Cothran alter 2 of our
shoats & then went on to muster
I went to Carry Sallie to school got
Bill shod before pd for it & pd vaughan
Creasy subscription etc Cool day —
Jacob has not been at home since last
Sunday - some frost this morning

30th Halled out manure moved cow pen Path
etc etc

30-May 1st I went to aspen Grove on acct negroes
& then to Strait Stone M H -

May 2 Appraising Bro. John D Hunt Est
to day - fine day —Henry been Plowing
opening & fixing land for Cotton & Corn
Henry going down with Horses to aspen
Grove to start to Lynchg —
