1870 March 6th Raining snowing & Hailing
this morning quite Cold,I went to old place to
see If they were ready to start to Lynchg
they are not ready -

7th Richard whitehead started to Lynchg
with waggon & Sam Gilbert went with
him to day about 10 Oclock, Keatts Caroline
Nat Lewis & Ben began to thrash out Oats
after dinner, Bot 3 Barrels ½ & little over
of Corn Shelled from Wm T Shields &
paid him $1 pr Bushel, cleared off to day
& snow nearly gone weather moderate

8 Thrashing Oats all day & finished 1 stack tolerable
Cool I went to old place to see
Creed Tucker about getting some seed
Oats he did not come, quite cold

9. began to Hall wood steers turned the
yoke fell in the ditch at Bridge
& done badly stoped halling at 12
Oclock Cutting wood & fixing to burn
plant Bed in the morning weather
a little more moderate

10th Burnt Plant Bed above new ground to day
11 yds Square, fenced it in & sewed it cabbage
seed there that came from Mr Wm W Moses
Sewed the other Plant Bed in new ground
Sam burned in new ground over again
with Tobacco seed & my own cabbage seed
Beautiful day this 10 day March 1870
got a Box of wafers & Pens the first
I ever bot Richard got home to day about
1 Oclock gone 4½ days
12 Keatts malling Sam Halling Rails
to make Garden on Hill & manure on it
& then Halled some in Garden also ashes
Rained smartly in evening — I went
to Strait meeting.
