1871 Feby 18th Cleared off & the wind blew very
hard all day took down nannies Tobacco
& Striped it out & brot down to new prize
Barn & took down all Richards tobacco in
the body of the House took some of mine
in old prize barn & went to striping Sam
filled Cow rack Carried some shucks &
Shucks & Straw to cutting House, - Wind
Ceased about night, -

19th Very pretty fair day wind Blew some—

20 Very pretty morning Cutting on out Side
in Johns field this morning & will finish soon
The Closet Key has not been seen since Nannie
Went away Patty putting up Sticks where Peas
Was last Winter or Spring—

21st Began to Mall in New ground yesterday
Malling to day. cloudy & moderate weather
I set One Hen this evening 15 Eggs under her

22nd Began to Plow up Tobacco yesterday
evening & Began to Plow again this morning
and Mall & about 9 oclock it commenced
Snowing & Snowed all day after 12 oclock
We Went to Striping Tobacco in old Prize
Barn Sam Halled 2 loads wood for himself
Snow about shew deep stoped about
night weather turned a little cooler

23rd Striped in Richards Barn all day to day
Me all the hands did not quite finish
What we took of the body expect to finish
in the morning & then Strip on mine
balance of the day Snow has melted
smartly have not seen the Sun day –
No Nannie yet. weather bad –

24 Me Martin Smith Dolly Patrick & Sam Tucker
striped in Richards barn & finished the body of
the barn that we had took down & took 2
rooms of the top down in the body to come
in order for striping when we can after 12
oclock all went old prize Barn with Sam G
