A good day. The men folks plowed
until twelve then [?] this
evening.

Josie got dinner.

I went to Owens. I churned
and dodged a round most of the
day. I went to Carries a few
minutes this evening.

Cordie & Nettie Blair and Ada
Hutcherson
come this evening.
They said that Lottie Craddock
has a daughter. Denia Blair
has gone up there to see her.

Ben & Jim caught a turtle
in the branch. I dressed it for
Henry. The Owen boyes has
bin here most all day.

Can the word here be "grubed"? I'm not sure what you'd grub, as I don't think that's part of tobacco farming.

Neil

A grubbing hoe is built much like a hoe but with a thicker blade. You would hoe weeds but would grub roots and other wood like things - pokeberry vines and such.
