Tuesday, December 11, 1923

A very warm day for December The [wen?] cut wood. for fine wood all day. The children went to school. I done all day what I could and noone could tell any thing had bin done.

Mollie & [Dessia?] come to see me I was very glad that they come it had bin a long time since [Dessia?] had bin to see us. She said she thought that Isla was feeling better than she had Mollie said that Bruces wife was in the Hospitle she had a tumor removed I hope she may get well soon

[Christaniy?] come for her mother on the car hope thay got home allright

Wednesday, December 12, 1923

A beautiful day. The men cut wood in the woods and Ben hauled. They put some tobacco in the pit. The children went to school. I got a card announcing the birth of Virginia Thomson's baby. I have bin very busy today. I boiled meat and made scrapple. I brought some water, cleaned out the range, buried my pech seed. I could not get any way to plant them like I wanted to. Hope I may live and plant them. I want them to do some body some good. They were fine peaches. They come from Marvin's.

A cloudy day. No rain to stop work. Ben hauled wood all the morning. Jim graded tobacco. They all worked on tobacco this evening. The children went to school. Henry went to Gretna to play basket ball. He has not got home yet. Ben worked on his chairs last night and is at work on them tonight. I will be glad when he gets them finished. Mabel and I have staid in the kitchen most of the day. I cooking and washing dishes. She cutting out paper dolls and coloring them with her pencils. Cutting paper is her daily work. Bless her little soul.

Friday, December 14, 1923

The ground was covered with snow this morning. The first of real winter we have had. They stripped tobacco most of the day. A load of tobacco passed here this morning through the snow. They seemed to be making it fine. The children went to school. I think some of them has a colde from going in the snow. Henry got home last night some where a bout midnight. Said he eat supper at Aunt Caries. Said Reese fell and hurt his arms. I hope he may soon be well. Ben went to Mr. Allen's this evening. Will Allen and his wife moved to their selves to day.

Saturday, December 15, 1923

A clear cold day. Jim started to Lynchburg to see his wife and daughter. I hope he may find them well and doing well. Henry drove the car to Gretna. Ben sawed some wood. Mr. Booker helped John Ward and Henry. They got what Ben had hauled. Mr. Booker eat dinner with us. I cooked hog chidlins. I was a shamed of it as Mr. Booker was here. Hope he did not find it out[?]. I have bin chilly and sick some this evening. Mrs. Booker sent me some butter by Ray this evening. I was very glad of it. Henry has gone to Mr. Mayhew's.
