Dear Mother: It has been about two weeks since I last wrote. I just can't seem to sit down and write a letter no how these the Princeton, I guess we can but there is nothing have to say. It is over and I wish to leave it that way.

We heard about the President about as soon as you did. I can't say we were shocked, more surprised. Death is not a shock anymore. As for reactions there was little that I could notice. It is up to you people back home to grieve for him. We from time to time have our own dead to bury. They are not big men but much closer to me than the President, and there [sic] loss to us is greater than the President loss to you. We did observe the period of silence where possible.

I seem to be getting off the track. This is supposed to be a letter home not a speech.

I hope all at home is going well. When you see May Murphy tell here I was asking for here and that I'll write soon. Explain that I just don't have the time now. I'll also try to write Grandfather and the rest as soon as possible Tell Anna I have been recieving [sic] quite a few of her letters lately and believe I have them all to date now.

I am in the best of health now and fairly happy. I hope you are the same and that your eye is giving you no more trouble. Don't worry about me. Each day it is proven more and more to me that I am in God's hands. If anything happens it will be his will.

I can't promise when I'll write again but it will be soon. Say hello to everyone for me.

Your loving son Georgie
