Dear Mother:

I should have written more often these last two weeks but as I said in my last letter I am resting up and taking full advantage of it. I am not getting this rest because of any personal injury. I am fine and nothing has happened to me. As I told you in my last letter last week I spent at a rifle range and had a great time. Did not fire well at all but got lots of rest and put on some weight. Day after I got back from there I went out again for four days to another wonderful place.

Just got back this morning. Had more fun, more rest and picked up more weight. Will be sending along some pictures soon to prove it.

Now we come to the less pleasant side of this letter. I

guess you have been reading between the lines in some of my past letters and figured I was in the States. I am not and have not been. I would surely have let you know if I were. Awhile back I did hope to get back but there is no chance for awhile now.

I spoke with our Marine Capt. today about a transfer. We had quite a talk and he was very nice but said he could not transfer me at present maybe in four or six months. He explain we have so many new men that we have to keep all the old men we now have to keep things balanced and running well. So I am it for awhile longer. He realizes how much time we have out here and will send us back as soon as possible. We just have to stick it out until this [sic] new men catch on to what is going on out here. I am realdy to go home any time, don't think I'll stay

out here unless they keep me. I hope we understand each other now. I just can't walk up to someone and say I have had enough of this I think I'll go home. It is up to them to decide and they are treating me pretty well. As soon as they can they'll let me go. Until then lets keep praying and I'll be alright. I have been so far.

I recieved the gold star but the stem was broken off so it is no good. Please send the other one along in a box this time.

So glad to hear you and Marian had such a good time in Baltimore. Keep right on enjoying the whole summer. I'll be twice as happy if I know you are enjoying yourself. Hope everyone else is well and happy. I hope someday to get around to writing them. Until then give them my best. Take good care of Marian when she comes home on leave. I'd

like her to have the best time possible. Take some of my allotment money and take her to a good show or two and do the town. Speaking of money as we were please take two checks of fifty dollars and send it to me right away. Having a good time is getting expensive. Don't send it in a money order. They are two hard to cash. Send it in a registered letter or some other way.

That is all for this time take care of yourself and don't worry. I'll write again soon.

Your loving son Georgie
