Dear Mother:

I hope by this time you have recieved my letter explaining why I amnot coming home as you had hoped. I hope also that your understand that I really want to come home but not being in the States makes it impossible and even if I were it is not up to me to say when I can go and come. As for where we have been I have told you all I am permitted too at present.

I have just spent four days at a rest camp and fell tip-top. Now lets get this straight. When I say I feel better than I have in months I don't mean anything was wrong with me. I am resting more and relaxed which would naturally make me feel much better than when I was all tense and on edge in the combat zone.

2.

Nothing has happened to me so please get the idea out of your head. If anything ever does you can be sure I'll let you know as soon as possible.

I'd like you to do me a favor. A buddy of mine who used to be on the ship is home now. I wish you would go and see him. He lives at 321 - 57th St. B'Klyn, ground floor. He and he wife are swell people. I know you'll like them.

The stationary finally arrived. Half the box was gone and all the envelopes were usless. I'll use the paper if I can't get the right sized envelopes.

That is all for tonight mother. Give my best to all. I'll write again soon.

Your loving son Georgie
