Dear Mother:

I am still taking things easy so there is little to write about. Also the mail has been a bit slow of late. Combine these two things and you can understand why I have not written in the last few days.

You seem to be all mixed up about these gold stars and all the others two. If you recieve a medal more than once it would be a bit foolish to give you the same medal over and over again so after the first time they give a star and if you recieve a third or fourth a gold star for each of these. All it means in my case is that I have recieved two P.H.'s, medal the first time a gold star the second. What had you confused were the stars you wear and the other ribbons. With those you wear a bronze star for each battle. When you get five bronze stars you wear one silver

in place of the five bronze. These five must be on the same ribbon though. When you have ten bronze or two silver stars on one ribbon you replace them with a gold star. In short bronze stars are for one battle, silver for five and gold for ten. But don't forget when a gold star is worn on a medal it means a second award of that medal. Another thing, don't confuse the bronze and silver stars I have mentioned with the Bronze Star medal and the Silver Star medal. Well that is enough for the todays lesson.

I believe this letter will reach you while you are still on your vacation. I hope you have a wonderful time. Get lots of rest and have fun. I haven't had any more pictures taken but I'll send along what I have in a few days.

Give my best to everyone. And Pop especially. I'll write again soon.

Your loving son Georgie
