had recently developed because
of the damp conditions there;
Remains of the old bamboo clumps
characteristic of this type of
forest along western India, stood
along the water's edge, killed
by submersion. Farther up the
gently-sloping shore green clumps
of bamboo thrived on the close
proximity of water. Some
specimens were collected under
bark flakes in the dry forest
itself.

Camp situated on a small
ridge in an undisturbed, mixed
evergreen-decidious forest. The
trees on the ridge tended to be
decidious species while those
on the gentle slopes were
primarily evergreen. With the
exception of dry grassy
spots in the more open forest
on the ridge, a thick tangle
of undergrowth persisted
beneath the trees a heavy
dew condensed on the grass
early in the night. A full
moon no doubt reduced the
black light take.

Specimens were also collected
under rotting logs and
occasional stones. The ground
was quite dry.
Hilly countryside.
a pin point locality would

mile or so from camp.
