A Yes sir.

A Before its consolidation?

A I can not recollect now whether I
was or not. I presume I was though
I dont know though for certain.

company known as the San Joaquin
Valley Railroad Company?

A I think I was.

Q 41 Were you a director and officer of the
corporation mentioned in your answer
in this case, known as the Contract and
Finance Company

A I was — that is, a few months after
its organization I was President of it.

Q 42 How long did you remain President of it?

A I remained President of it, until — I
think that I remained President of it until
the Spring of 1871, but possibly I may
he mistaken about it, but I think so,
I think I was.

Q 43 After the Spring of 1871, were you at any
time an officer or director in that
corporation?

A No sir.
