A. I dont[don't] think I ever had a conversation
with Mr. Stewart in relation of that stock:
and I am not sure that I ever met him:
but it is possible, because I have met a
great many people at different times at
the office in New York whose names
were familiar to me; but I can not always
distinguish now in my memory one
from the other. Mr Stewart's name is
familiar to me.

A. Not at that time.
Q 18 At which time?
A. At the time Mr. Aspinwall sold his
stock, nor for a long time afterwards.
Q 19 Why do you say "not at that time,"
when you do not recollect the time Mr.
Aspinwall sold the stock?
A. Because it was long after the difficulties
arising out of the Brannan suit know,
