A. For a portion of it.

Q. 137. Can you state which portion?

A. Well, they contracted to construct
that portion of the road East of the
state line between California and Nevada.

Q. 138. It constructed that portion of the
Central Pacific lying between the
Eastern line of California and Promintory [Promontory]
Point?

A. And the Eastern end "of"[crossed out] to its connection
with the Union Pacific.

Q. 139. Do you recollect in what years that
road was being constructed by the
Contract and Finance Company?

A. The most of that portion was con=
structed in 1868. The road was com=
pleted to connection with the Union
Pacific on 1869.

Q. 140. Do you recollect about when the
contract was made between the Central
Pacific Railroad and the Contract
and Finance Company for the con=
struction of this road?
