that we received from the Company,
from the earnings of Contract and
Finance Company.

dividend in the stock of the Central
Pacific Railroad Company of California, in
April 1870.

A. No sir; not of the Central Pacific Railroad
of California; the Central Pacific Railroad as
it then existed.

Q. 41. What was the Company Existing in 1870?

A. I think it was the Central Pacific Rail=
road Company; but I would not be positive
about that.

Q. 42. What do you say about it: did you
receive it "from"[scribbled out] in the stock of the Central
Pacific Railroad Company of California, or

A. The name was changed after the con=
solidation: but there were several con-
solidations, and I dont[don't] know when it was
