of[centered]
Charles Crocker.[centered]

Mr. Sanderson.

Q. 1. You say you ceased to be a
director of the Central Pacific
Railroad Company in 1872, prior
to going to Europe?

A. Yes sir: — I think I went to
Europe in 1871, didn't I?

Q. 2 Then, at the time you went
to Europe, or just before that, you
ceased to be a director of the
Company?

A. Yes sir.

Q. 3 Did you at that time also
cease to be a stockholder of the
Company?

A. No; I had stock in the Com=
pany; but I had sold it: it
was still standing in my name
on the Company's books.

Q. 4 But you had sold out?

A. I had sold out actually, and
the stock was put up in escrow
as collateral security for payment.
I did remain a stockholder.
