whatever, for any of the debts or liabilities of the
Central Pacific Railroad Company of California,
to an amount beyond or exceeding the amount of
the capital stock subscribed by them upon the
books of said Company, to wit: three thousand
shares of the capital stock of said Company, amount=

number ten, of an Act of the Legislature of the
State of California, entitled on Act to authorize the
City and County Sacramento to subscribe to the
capital stock of the Central Pacific Railroad
Company of California, and providing for the
payment of the same, and other matters relating
thereto. Approved April 25, 1863.

19. And it is further expressly agreed and
stimulated, that the county of Placer shall not
be liable under this Contract, or to any of the

whatsoever, for any of the debts and liabilities
of the Central Pacific Railroad Company of
California, to any amount beyond or exceeding
the amount of the capital stock subscribed
by them, upon the books of said Company,

Act of the Legislature of the state of California,
