A. Several hundred miles: that is the
most definite answer I can give. I don't know.

A. Yes.

Q. 229 Did the contract between the Central
Pacific Railroad Company and the Contract
and Finance Company cover the performance
of labor merely, or, in addition to that, the
furnishing of all the material required?

A. To the best of my recollection it covered
both the furnishing of labor and material.

Q. 230 Who furnished the iron rails used
upon the Central Pacific Railroad from
the state line of California eastward?

A. I think the Contract and Finance
Company. It was included in their contract,
to the best of my recollection.

Q. 231 Did that company furnish them to
the Central Pacific?

A. Yes. Under their contract they fur=
=nished the rails and laid them.
