and ascertain whether or not he subscribed
for it, and whether or not it was ever
issued to him; and, if he transferred
it, when?

A. [After examination:] I do not find
any subscription on the subscription = books
that are now in the office. The certificate
was issued to him June 21,1870. It stood
in his name at the time of the consoliation.

Q. 415 Do you know whether or not it has
been transferred since, and, if so, to whom?

A. I do not.
