Q Sept 12. 1874 D 25 $1500.
The charge here is that the
$1500 was not sent. What
can you say about that?

A My recollection now is
that I gave Gen. Colton or
obtained $1500 in currency
and gave it to him.

Q A check was drawn
by D D Colton for the purchase
of currency. The stub check
reads "purchase of $1500 cur-
rency for R M C & I Co. Sent to
mine." There is no evidence
in the letter book advising
this amount being sent. No
credit for it in the mine
books.

A Well that was one of
those matters that I followed
his directions and his orders
and obtained the money and
must have given it to him.

Q It was drawn at the
time of Deuel's death. Colton
went up these, but he don't
appear to have left the money.
