Q That is an entry in the
cashbook, and to H. K. White
$50. A That is correct
That went the same way
as the other. I will explain
it this way. Sometimes we
would receive as small an
amount as $20 for a car of
coal from different parties in
cash and I would put it in
the drawer and when I got
an amount I mentioned as I
told you before, $50, or $100 or
sometimes $200 gold I would
go and select out from the
drawer all the gold there was
and make a deposit of[scribbled out] with
other money that I had on
hand. I always notified Gen
Colton
whenever I received any
money, even the smallest amt.
for coal and who I received
it from.

Q How did you notify him?

A Telling him that I had
received certain money from
certain parties.
