A. It might have undertaken them on a
verbal contract.

you whether you ever made any contract,
verbal or otherwise, with anybody, in rela=
=tion to the repairs made on the California
Pacific Railroad, excepting with Mr. Stanford,
C. P. Huntington, Mr. Hopkins, or Mr. Crocker?

A. I do not remember of any such contract,
— with any other parties or with them.

California Pacific Railroad?

A. When we made the repairs we supplied
the material for the repairs.

Q. 768 Under whose direction were such repairs made?

A. By the directors of the Contract and
Finance Company — their superintendents.
