French Camp Jen [June] 6th 1858

Dear sister we receivd your letter some two weaks sence [since] and was happy To here [hear] from you But we have Neglected writeing [writing] to you for the reason witch [which] I now will relate some three weaks [weeks] Ago your cows and mine whent [went] of [off] I no not ware [where] and I have hunted the valley over and cannot find ore [or] here [hear] of Them I have hunted one weak [week] But Cannot hunt any more until I finish Plowing and if it is see one of you can comb [come] down and help me hunt them I think you had Better comb [come] I think I will Be don [done] plowing in two weaks [weeks] then I will have time bunt [but] I cannot go until Then unles [unless] I should here [hear] from them If one of you should comb [come] down you Need not matter A Bout [about] selchere [sheltering] your Mules if you have work for them There I think I can make out for horses I have sold my place also Mr tylor [Tylor] has His to Mr Jones Mrs floyds [Floyd's] soninlaws [son-in-law] I sold for one hundred and sixty dolars [dollars] I have Ben [been] makeing [making] A treed in the stalk line I swapt [swapped] of two harp cows and heffer [heifer] for two milk cows and young calfs Mr Gerden Lanes is in stockton Stockton

pick I am verry [very] excited to find them cows or here [hear] from them for I am almost certan [certain] that one or two of them has calfs [calves] or will have soon we hav [have] had a fine time thiscristmas [Christmas] we hav [have] had a hasty easy week Since you bin [been] gon [gone] tha had a big Ball at Mr Haslenes [Haslene's] Cristmas [Christmas] Night the we had a fine time of it we danste [danced] all night mem 8 of Jenuary [January] that hav [have] a big Boill [boil] ovr [over] the Hay we want you to writ [write] sone [soon] lets one know how you are giting [getting] a long [along]

So no more At the present her [here] remane [remain] you [your] Sistr [Sister] and well wish. Untill [until] Deth [death]
