Indian Diggings December the 1, 1854

Dear Sir after my Respects to you and your Family I will address a few Lines to you to Let you no that I am in the Land a Living I herd of you and your wife and five son yesterday I was truly pleased to hear from you and you were in Good health and was doing well this is the Second time I have written to you I am keeping a Billiard Table and Bar at this place in company with a young man his name is Jas [Withinton?] a Cousin of Edward James wife Eugine Alarez was here in September the Election Day Electioniering for lang town to be the County Seat I Received a Letter from him the first of November he was Requesting me to come to Lang town to be in partner Ship with him in a Restaurant that he had Rented the Best [Stand?] in Lang town for that Business in the City

I am So Situated that I Could not take up with his offer Alarez Said he had Received a Letter from his wife and She Said if he did not come home that She would Come to this Country next Spring with John James I Received a Letter from my Son Edward a Short time Since he Said John James was Cutting around the young Girls Like a young man of 21 years of age and was a going to mary a Miss [Merishall?]. I have written to Henry James and have not herd a word from him Since he was here Last August one year ago Louis James was hear Last Spring and I have not Seen him Since though hear from him accationally Ellen Daly married a man by the name of Perry he is a verry clever fellow She had a fine Daughter Last month her mother Lives with her they Live about two miles from this place Perry is a Butcher and a Rancher John Dawson is here a mining Wm. & Louis [Dubray?] were here

about a month Siince they were well Wm. Dubray intends mining in those diggings as Soon as the Rainey Season Setts in those are all the Boys off our home acquaintance in those diggings where is Dana [harly?] he Left here for Jackson answer this Soon and Let me hear all the news about all off our acquaintances Give my Respects to your Brother Hugh and family and tell him to write to me and Direct the Letters to this place Give my Respects to your wife and all of my acquaintances if any in your part of the Country my Family and friends were all well when I herd from them Last I Receive Letters Every month. we are doing tolerable well at present and I think will do Better as Soon as we have plenty of water I must Close Excuse this your Old Friend R. O. Taylor

P.S. I Should Like verry much to See you and Eliza and have a talk about our old Florisant Friends &c
