It has raged terribly throughout
the country – I am so thankful
that my children have all been
spared to me – very, very thankful.

We have had hardly any winter
and this is the 18th of February.
It has been like Indian Summer
till then I might say – but this
morning a soft wet snow is falling –
Fred & Will have been joining the
the ["the" is written twice] masons lately – Harold speaks
as if he may too – He suffers
greatly with eye strains I wish
something could be done for him
but he can't stand it much longer
& I fear will have to leave the
bank because of it = Roy is here
on a thirty days furlough.

I must say Adieu Edward dear &
God bless you from us all
your loving grandmother Susanna Rixon
