MAY 4.
Mostly cear and quite warm. Lew and I went to town in the forenoon I to see after some business and get me a pair of shoes. He to attend to the marketing. Will laid off some on the NW corner piece harrowed the NE corner piece and commenced laying it off after we got home. I began to plant a little.

MAY 5.
Sun
Very nice and warm. Lew staid [stayed] at home like a man and kept back. Mother and I went to Mr Hoags but Mr Hoags folks were gone and Mr Breninger entertained us first rate with their specimens and his musium [museum]. Then we went to C V Howards and had a right good visit.
