garden but got four loads on the stack and good ones too. Mr Birdsall and Bert Burdick were here to help. I went to town to see Mr Avery and Mr Alford and saw them this afternoon. I helped at the hay and hoed some and amused myself in various ways.

Sun Aug 10
Another of them fool days with lots of bluster but no rain. Went this morning to see how much damage Mr Alford sustained last year but we did not quite agree but may be we will yet. Had lots of company today. Dotts s and Charleys folks were here had a nice visit. Lew went up to Mr Dixons and cut a little patch of native hay to sort of pay them for the use of their horse on their mountain trip.
