Fri Apr 8 Found about half an
inch of snow on the ground this
morning but the weather cleared
up and this afternoon has been
quite comfortable. The boys hauled
a load of hay from the Howard
place this forenoon for the cows
and that is all that we had there.
This afternoon the boys fixed a
break in the ditch near Howards
fence then they hauled manure.
I fixed the headgate north of
Howards place and then painted
chairs.

Sat Apr 9 Quite nice until about
4 O clock when the wind started
up and blew like fury. Mr Smith and
another man painted the house over to
day. The boys hauled a load of hay for the
sheep and then hauled manure.
I trimed [trimmed] the plum trees west of the
hen yard varnished the cupboards and
painted the cellar door.
