Sat MARCH 9. Somewhat raw with a cold South wind. Lew drilled in some wheat on the windy hill place then we brought down a small load of native hay at noon. I worked at the slip business some and done some other chores. Reas come out just at night and all hands but Mother and one have gone to the school house to the entertainment.

MARCH 10. Sun A very nice day again. Reas and Charley and Lew and I went up to the hills. We looked around pretty thoroughly. I didnt like the Whittiker place worth a cent when I come to see it all around but I liked the cozy places pretty well and may see them again before a great many weeks.

Mon MARCH 11. Quite warm some of the time to day clear too. Lew finished the wheat on the hill in the forenoon. I cut some slips and turned the horses int [into] the field and in the afternoo [afternoon] we went to town and brought out some water etc.

MARCH 12. Tues The day was quite nice and pleasant. Lew put in the piece of wheat over on the hill. I went to town with Mother and took the water wagon home and then we took the buggy and went to Beaches tried to borrow some money but they had none on hand. Now we came home by John Drager.

Wed MARCH 13. Pretty nice again but more or less cloudy. Mr Haag was here and got the boat fixed and I put the gill net out hoping to catch some catfish. Lew helped him part of the day and I went to town to see if I could make a raise of some money. I dont know yet how it will pan out. I cut some slips in the afternoon.

MARCH 14. Thurs Well well it rained quite a little bit to day and we were out in most of it fixing the fence over at the Richards place. Lew harrowed over on the west hill in the forenoon. I cut slips in the afternoon. We dried off after we got done fixing that fence. I put in some tomato and dalia seeds for early.

Fri MARCH 15. Cloudy and foggy in the morning but cleared up towards night. Yesterdays rain wet down about two inches. Lew went to town with the butter and eggs etc. I filled the cistern and cut some slips turned a little water into willow pond.

MARCH 16. Sat Quite warm and cloudy towards night. Mother and I went down to Rhodes's place to get some Cottonwood slips in the forenoon. in the afternoon I worked at the slips. Lew harrowed on the wheat ground at windy hill.

Sun MARCH 17. Rather cold and raw with considerable wind. We all kept Sunday and that was all that we did keep.

MARCH 18. Mon Fair as a lady and as warm as wool. I cut slips all I could get time to but we had a good deal of company. Mr Birdsill Mr Dixon Will Coy Mr Haag Mr Breminger Frank Neece etc. Lew finished the wheat at windy hill.
