Mon Jan 2nd 1893 Pretty as a pink only the wind was most too plenty for what I wanted to do for I wanted to finished painting the big buggy but I got the seats and neck yoke and the inside of the bed painted and this afternoon I helped Kib haul manure. He hauled manure all day.

Tues Jan 3 Clear but a steady wind all day. Kib and I hauled manure this forenooon and he hauled manure this afternoon. I painted the buggy this afternoon all but the seats and inside of the bed and it kept me busy too.

Wed Fan 4 Pretty only a little too much wind. The thermometer marked 50º about noon. Kib and I went to town. Took over the cream. I paid Charley the five dolls [dollars] that I borrowed for Kib. This afternoon we done diverous [diverse] chores and ensured the house and contents for one thousand dollars.

Thurs Jan 5 Beautiful day. Just nice enough for anybody. Kib and I hauled maure to day.

Fri Jan 6 Clear but awful windy especially this afternoon. Kib and I hauled two loads of manure this forenoon and this afternoon the wind blew a big gale and we done 0.

Sat Jan 7 Clear and pretty windy. We hauled out one load of manure. Then Kib went to town and took over the cream and brought back 2,200 lbs of coal. I done chores until afternoon a while.

Sun Jan 8 Nice only as windy as the old scratch. Kib went to Dots's I gues [guess]. Lew and Mary got home last night about 10 O clock. They report a very nice time in Denver and I cant see how it could be otherwise. We kept Sunday very quietly.

Mon Jan 9 Beautiful clear still and warm so we worked in our shirt sleeves all day. Lew and Kib hauled 3 loads of hay for the cows from the east end of the long stack. I made a manger from the bull stable to the calf stable and cleaned out the big hen house.

Tues Jan 10 Clear and pretty nice only rather windy towards night. Lew and Kib hauled 3 more loads of hay to day and got through for the present. I cut down and trimed the two Pewakee trees and trimed [trimmed] on the other trees along the road fence until noon. This afternoon I tinkered in the shop. Filed and set the little back saw and fixed my truss etc. We got a letter from Dave to day. He is at Will Mungers at St Helena Napa co Cal [California] and thinks of staying there awhile anyhow.

Wed Jan 11 Pretty fair in the morn but snowed some about noon and got quite cold towards night. The boys hauled some manure and done some other chores. One was to commence to break the two mares. I worked at thinning and trimming the plum thicket until noon then I didnt do much only to churn after that.

Thurs Jan 12 Very nice to day. Lew went to town with Mary and the cream. They got some food for us and some chafed [chaffed] feed and bran for the horses and brought out a load of things that Meda and Mary had over at Mr Smiths. Kib chored around at the barn and I worked at the plum patch.

Fri Jan 13 Clear but awful windy. Lew and Kib broke colts for the main business to day with very good encouragement. I worked at plum patch till most noon. Mr. Smith came and got his colt. We settled and he is owing me for its keeping $8,50/100 [$8.50].

Sat Jan 14 The wind didnt blow quite so hard to day but it was a quite a bit colder. The boys hauled manure to day up at Windy hill. They worked one of the colts this forenoon and the other this afternoon and they done well too. I worked at the plum patch most of the day. I have the trimming all done.

Sun Jan 15 Quite nice to day. We J E Mother and me got all ready to to go over to Mr Cushins and just as she got into the buggy Ett and the girls and Mrs Pleasant and after a while Harry and the school marm and Mrs Dixon came and we visited pretty fast. Lew went up to Spring Canion [Canyon] and has not got back yet. He went up to get Prince.
