Hon Ridgley C. Powers
Gov State of Miss
Jackson Miss

Dear Sir

I have a brother
who graduated some two years ago at the Columbia College Law School in this city, and who is desirous of settling in some of the Southern States, but before going would like to be assured of an appointment whose income would be sufficient to meet ordinary daily expenses. He would be willing to be assigned to any county where he could do the most good. Thinking he might be of some service to you in the ensuing campaign and trusting from the slight service rendered you in the past by the undersigned I have indulged the hope that your excellency can find some opening for him. If you do not remember me personally I refer you to Gen Geo C McKee. Jas M. McKee Esq the Mess Loomis & others hoping to have an early and favorable answer I am

Your obt Servant
S. Galinger (formerly Chancery Clerk Yasoo Co Miss)
