Iowa PBS currently uses ProTrack as their broadcast and archive database. After learning how they can export data from ProTrack to populate a PBCore-based spreadsheet and MediaInfo to generate an XML, they are preparing to use the PBCore XML files to populate their own online database for their stock footage licensing library.
Benefits of PBCore The demonstration of PBCore asset and instantiation relationships allowed for a better understanding of how to organize multiple copies of media and the information needed to be able to differentiate between two instantiations of the same asset. In the past, the maintenance of library assets was not ideal, but PBCore training has reinvigorated staff to better complete and maintain future records as well as begin to update past records that lack information.
