District Council of Lincoln Appeal meeting held September 20th 1930

resent Chairman (Jas O'Shanahan) Councillors Simes, Morgan, Puckridge, and Harder

The following appeal notices were received P.J. Mickan, Appealed against assessment on section 1H Hd Cummins Resolved the assessment be reduced to £25

J.H. Lawrence appeal against assessment on'Sections 78 Hd Mitchell resolved the value of property be £430.

W.D. Weemys appeal against assessment on Lot 6 Town Bellwood, Hd Shannon Resolved the present assessment stand. James OShanahan Chairman 20.9.30/

District Council of Lincoln Minutes of meeting held September 20th 1930

Present Chairman (Jas O'Shanahan) Councillors Puckridge, Morgan, Simes, & Harder.

Financial Statement submitted

Correspondence Highways & Local Government Letters received from the Secretary re the following matters. No work must be undertaken on main roads, (in anticipation of a grant for 1930/31 being allotted), unless written authority has been given by the Commissioner of Highways, or the Council have main road funds in hand.

Direction received, that in no case other than for patching, is expenditure to be incurred from Govt Grants a/c for surfacing or re-surfacing main roads with tar or bitumen unless approval in writing from the Highways Department has been given The Govt. has issued orders that no unnaturalized British subject is to be employed on works being carried out by Councils, the cost of which will be met, partly, or wholly, from Govt. road funds. Attention is drawn to the fact that a new clause, drafted by the Crown Solicitor, may be inserted in all contracts let by Councils

to protect the payment of wages etc, to contractor's employees. Re "Danger" & "Direction" signs, which will be supplied by the Shell, & Vaccuum Oil, Companies, where the Council's consider they would be of use to the travelling public.

Mr E. Whitlock Jones, Wrote calling attention of the Council to the bad state of the road from Warrow to Pillana Lake. If the Council would call tenders for 20 chains to be repaired, he would put in a price for £6-10/- per chain. Mr Jones to be replied to, saying that there are no funds available for the work at present.

Mr S.C. Shaw Wrote advising he is starting a butchering business at Yeelanna, & asked for particulars re premises, & for licence fee Licence to be issued, & premises inspected.

Cummins Vigilence Committee. The Secretary wrote re the following. The very bad state of the main street of Cummins, requesting the Council get their Overseer to inspect, & report on it, & further that they may be advised when it is likely the Council will undertake the work.

Royal Automobile Assn. Circular received re the Highways Bill

Young Australia League. Letter received from the SA. Representative re same.

Town Planner Forwarded plan of proposed re sub-division or part sections 71 & 131 Hd Lincoln.

Re Subdivision approved.

Automobile Assn. The secretary wrote, stating that owing to lack of funds available for sign posting, they had been obliged to discontinue this issue of Direction Signs free of charge, but that the Vaccuum Oil, & Shell Oil, companies would in future supply them.

Yeelanna Vigilence Committee applied for the erection of a "Danger" sign on the Cummins Yeelanna Main Rd near Railway Cottages. Resolved "Danger Sign" requested, be ordered.

Application for Fencing & Water- Piping Loans from-- D.P. Green. S.C. Young Application for Wire-Netting Loan from Ruby E. Howard Moved by Cr Puckridge that applications from D.P. Green, & R.E. Howard, be forwarded to the State Bank. Seconded by Cr Simes. Carried

Transfer of Land H.C. Wollaston to A.B. Dinnison Lots 1.2.3.4. Hd Lincoln S. McAuley to Court of Bankruptcy pt Sect 4S Cummins Sects 51.5.3 Shannon G.C. Smith & others to G.C. Smith & others lot 15 Bellwood T.C. Sachs to H.H. Borthwick Block 5B Wanilla

Moved by Cr Simes that the Clerk be authorised to make the necessary alterations in the Assessment Book. Seconded by Cr Harder Carried.
