Minutes of Council Meeting held April 28th 1916

Present All . Cr Jas O'Shanahan in the chair.

Minutes of Previous meeting read & confirmed.

Financial statements submitted & read. Also statement of rates collected.

Correspondence Memo from Sec to Com of Crown Lands re dog discs stating that A Simpson & Sons were the successful Tenderers for same @ 5/18/6 per 1000 Letter from D.R. Myers re repairs to Proper Bay & Prewitts water Reserve Roads.

Moved by Cr Hartley } That the request be granted 2nd by Cr Forbes } Carried

Letter from Manager Bank of Australasia re order from E. Meers.

Letter from Joyner Shepherd & Phillips re E.J. Lewis asigned Estate. Clerk to make claim for amount due to Dist. Council.

Letter from T Speed re bad state of Main Road at Mt Hope. Resolved that a man be put on to repair the road from Mt Hope to Lake Hamilton. Also Tenders to be called for about 15 chs metalling near Dog proof gate opposite Lake Halmilton Station.

Letter from F. Johns Sec to Royal Water Commission

from C.E. Cranston re Plew Bros Rates & Netting instalments.

Memo from A.E. Lykke re Roll of honor for this District matter left over for the present.

Memo from Secretary to Childrens Hospital asking for a donation for same - received.

Cemeterys - Schedule of Charges submitted & Clerk stated that copys of same had been sent to all Curators.

Letter from C.E. Wright accepting the offer as curator for Wangary Cemetery.

Moved by Cr Morgan - that Mr Wright be appointed curator for Lake Wangary Cemetery 2nd by Cr Puckridge - Carried

Statement of Lands in Lincoln District which were gazetted for re-allotment submitted.

Memo from T. Fowler re statment books for Councillor received.

Letter from E.A. Broadbent asking the Council to pay part costs of repairing footpath to Bay View. Moved by Cr Forbes - That 30/- be paid towards same. 2nd by Cr Hartley - carried.

Sinclairs Road Letter from Dobbins Bros. re road through their lands & stated that they required the Council to erect a Vermin proof fence along same - Clerk to inform Messrs Sinclairs Bros. the results of negotiations also to point out the advantages of surveyed road between Sect. 83 & 92.

Rates & Ect Letters from J. Vonow, B. Havelberg, G.A. Vigar, W.B. Carr, C.B. Koth, H.H. Rice, F.W. Flavel, H.H. Voumard, A. Habner & Mitchell Bros. asking for extention of time to pay Rates & Wire netting instalments Clerk to reply that 1915 wire net instalments must be paid at once. Also all Dist Council Rates must be paid. Resolved that the Clerk prepare a list of all unpaid rates & place same in Solicitors hands to collect.

Letter from Post Master (W.C. Brennan) re roots of pepper trees damaging tank at Post Office Resolved that the roots be cut away.

Letter from Platt Ruskin & Co. re Button day for Port Lincoln received.

Letter from J.H. Woods re day work on the roads.

" from I Halls re his Contract at Cummins stating that he would complete same soon as water was available.

Tumby Agreement - signed agreement from Tumby received.

Memo from Good Roads Association

Memo from Sec. to Com Crown Lands - re preserving trees along road sides. Clerk to reply. Memo from same office re Balance of 1916 grant for Main Road in this Dist. (Viz) £290. also stating that a special grant of 200 had been made & specified where the money should be spent Clerk to reply that the Council considered that the money could be spent to greater advantage elsewhere.

a/cs General Funds 110-11-8 A/c A 35-2-4 were read & passed for payment.

Pillana Road Moved by Cr Hall. That an agreement be drawn up & same must be signed by all Land owners interested before the Council took further action in the matter 2nd by Cr Forbes - carried

Tenders Resolved that tenders be called for 2 chs metalling Crab holes at Yeelanna about 15 chs at Mitchells Swamp (Wildeloo) about 15 chs at Lake Hamilton & to complete work between Blk 10 & 12 Hd Mitchell O/S report read and adopted.

Tender 116 Tenders were opened & considered Resolved that I Halls tender for Con 116 be accepted (@ 2/7/6 per ch) Resolved that Mr Walding be employed to clean out drains near 33 mile post also to repair Woolshed Creek Culvert.

Resolved that Clerk be instructed to apply for £500 for a/c A. Also to ask Railway Dept to metal road near Gov. Railway Cottages at Cummins which road was destroyed by them carting material for the buildings. Also Clerk to procure 6' Iron trough for Nunmulta Well & forward same to Councillor Hall at Cummins.
