Minutes of Meeting held August 18th 1911

Present Crs OShanahan, Puckridge, Secombe WG Morgan & Cronin Clerk read Letter received from the chairman CR. J.D. Bruce, stating that owing to ill health he would be unable to attend the meeting. Cr. Morgan proposed Cr Secombe seconded that Cr OShanahan be chairman for present meeting. Carried Minutes of Last meeting read and confirmed. Letter read from Mr W.W. Goodhart re blocking of the Old Jetty approaches. Cr Secombe moved that the overseer see that the approaches are kept clear. Carried Seconded by Cr Cronin. Letter received from Mr W.A. Dorward asking that the Overseer be allowed to attend and give evidence at Two Wells at the Eyres Peninsular Railway Commission Meeting. Moved by Cr Morgan, seconded by Cr Puckridge that the Overseer be allowed to attend at the said meeting. Carried Resignation of Jas Symes as poundkeeper received. Petition from the residents Hundred Ulipa asking that road slong Sections 52.53 & others might be grubbed. Moved by Cr Puckridge that the road in question be grubbed according to request Cr. Morgan seconded Carried

Letter re Steven St Crossing received from resident Engineer, asking final instructions re Gates etc. Cr Secombe moved Cr Cronin Seconded that the Council prefer the Guarded Gates. Recd From Resident Engineer Carried Letter received with reference to Kirton Point Lights and others being attended to by Railway Dept. Letter received from Mr. E.J. Craigie re Amending of Dist. Councils Act, asking the Council to support the United efforts of Councils in the right of determing from themselves, how the rates shall be raised for Local revenue. Cr Secombe moved that the correspondence be received. Letter from Surveyor-General re Havelbergs loan being underpaid, amount underpaid to be forwarded by cheque. Letter from Resident Engineer re planting of Sugar Gums at Railway Station cottages. Cr Secombe moved that permission be granted to plant trees in question. Seconded by Cr. Morgan Carried Letter received re Railway Commission Cr Secombe moved that any person desiring to give evidence on Eyre's Peninsular Railway Commission at Lincoln had better communicate with the Clerk. Letter received from Surveyor General re transfer of Tumby Bay Netting Loans. Letter from Queensland Insurance Co. re Insurance against Accident etc etc

Seconded by Cr Puckridge Carried Cr Secombe asked that quotations for Wire Netting be obtained from various Firms and submitted at next meeting. Cr Secombe drew attention to state of Road at Corner of Edinburgh St. To be attended to by the overseer. Cr Cronin drew attention to Road at Yeelanna Siding and moved that 5 chains

of Mettaling be done. Seconded by Cr Puckridge Carried Cr Secombe asked that the Overseer report on the old West Road re ways and means of preventing the water from running along the said road and thereby causing the Council a lot of unnecessary expense.

Cr Morgan moved that the contract forfeited by Sampson be alotted to E Meers at Meers present contract price, provided that Meers would accept same Cr Puckridge seconded Carried

Cr Puckridge asked that 10 chains of road be made at Warrow Swamp. Cr Morgan seconded Carried Cr OShanahan drew attention to road leading to Mr Meadows', asked that daymen repair same. Cr OShanahan moved that the motion passed by the Council re removing of Gates in JW Chapman property at Sleaford be rescinded . Cr Secombe seconded. Carried Cr Morgan moved Cr Puckridge seconded that the following be the successful Tenderers for the various contracts. Statements of new assessment submitted. Cr Secombe moved that the assessment be adopted with necessary adjustments to be made by next meeting Seconded by Cr Morgan Carried

Overseers Report Read Cr Secombe moved that with reference to noxious Weeds St Johns Wort that overseer be empowered to have same destroyed owners of property where same existed to be asked to help in destroying same. Seconded by Cr Puckridge carried.

Cr Morgan moved that Overseers Report be adopted as read with exception of Sleaford Road. Cr Puckridge Seconded Carried Moved by Cr Secombe that Council meeting be held on fourth Friday in Sept. the 22nd instant, and that the Court of Appeal against assessment be held at 2pm on that day. Seconded by Cr Puckridge Carried
