Minutes of District Council Meeting held Dec 16th 1916

Minutes of previous meeting red & Confirmed.
Financial Statement submitted & read.
Correspondence Lettter from Wemyso Bros asking if the council had aby second hand wire netting for sale. Clerk toreply. Letter from H H Voumard asking for extension of time to complete his contract - request granted.
Letter from Farmilo & Lynch asking that £11-15-0 from their payment be paid to Cr of H.C. Liebich & that arrears of netting instalment also be paid from their a/c . Clerk to attend to same.
Letter from Wm Mitchell re second hand netting Clerk to reply giving particular of netting on cancelled lands.
Letter from Benevolent & Strangers Society received.
Letter from Minda Home asking for Donation received,
Letter from Clerk Tumby D.C. asking for sample of receipt books. Clerk to send samples of same as requested.
Letter from W T Wright re Rates & Netting Instalments. Received

Simpsons Rd Letter from A G Simpson re new Road at Pillana.
Notice of travelling stock from M J Sheean - received.
Letter from E Weaver re clearing Cemetery Moved by Cr Laidlaw that Mr Weaver be given the work as specified in his letter. Also that Clerk advertise for sale the large logs at the Cemetery. 2nd by Cr Forbes. Carried
Cr Laidlaw drew attention to large pin in the Cemetery which was likely to fall & do considerable damage. Resolved that the tree be removed. Same to be sold standing if possible.
Letter from J A McGuire - Sec Regatta Committee asking that the Beach be cleaned of all rubbish & Glass for the holidays. The matter was being attended to.
Petition from Ratepayers Hd Mortlock asking that Rd be repaired East of Edillilie on Main Rd. Moved by Cr Hall That Tenders be called for same at February meeting. 2nd by Cr Puckridge. C arried.
Letter from Survey Office re payment of netting Instalments
Order received from G R Langford to pay all Contract money into Bank of Adelaide Pt Lincoln.
Memo from Survey Office stating that 2-18-4 had (torn page missing) to Councils Credit being proportion of Hawker (torn page missing)
Letter from Crown Land Office stating that 500(torn page missing0 paid into (Main Rd) Gov Grant A/c.

Letter re Netting. Re Transfer of Netting from Cancelled lands frpm Crown Lands Office - received
Pillanna R. Letter from Survey Offices re gazette notice of opening new Road at Pillana
Moved by Cr Hall " That the Council give the necessary authority to have plans signed to open the Pillana Rd & that the Council procure permission from the Leases abbuting the road to hold over the matter of fencing of the Rd until fencing material comes down to normal prices. 2nd by Cr Laidlaw & carried.
Moved by Cr Hall. That the overseer be instructed to inspect & report on netting on all cancelled lands in the Hd Shannon. 2nd by Cr Forbes & Carried.
Letter Crown Lands Louth Bay. From Surveyor Generals re Crown Lands at Louth Bay - Clerk to reply.
Rife Range. Plans & Leases of Pt Lincoln Rifle Range submtted for signatures. Resolved that the same be signed as requested. Transfers. Transfers of Land from Lands Titles submitted for alteration in assessment book.

Councillor Forbes asked that Rd leading to Happy Valley Cemetery be repaired. Request granted.

Councillor Laidlaw drew attention to portion of cemeterynow lwft open and suggested that same be made ready for burials and gave mptoce that he would move at the next Council meeting. That the previous minute dealing with this be recinded. Cr Laidlaw asked that the o/s be instructed to have repairs done on old West Rd request granted. Also stated that the fence along North Main Rd needed repairing & suggested that portions of the fence be removed to the moore dangerous places . O/S to attend to same. Cr Laidlaw also stated that road leading to SAlt Creek needed repairing & moved that Tenders be called for same. 2nd by Cr Forbes - Carrried. Also stated tgat A G Schrader had approached in reference to leasing the road between Sect 113 & 108. Resolved the Schrader be requested to rent the road in the ordinary way.
Shed on oval. Moved by Cr Laidlaw. That the shed on oval be repaired by replacing the roof which had blown off. 2nd by Cr Forbes - Carried.
Moved by Cr Halls. That the nexessaryRegistration Books for Cemetery be procured & Sent to Curator at Cummins. 2nd. Cr Forbes & Carried. Councillor Hall. Asked that gravel be supplied for footpath at Cummins & stated that Flavel would load trucks of 6 yds at 25/- per truck. Resolved that Tenders be called to supply 30 yds of gravel at Cummins Railway yards. Also asked that some kind of cheap piping be put in footpath at Cummins - request granted.

O/S report read & considered Moved by Cr Forbes. That the report be adopted on condition. "That works suggested in report be held over till nect Feby meeting. 2nd Cr Hall - carried
Tenders were then opened & considered.
Moved by Cr Puckridge that Contracts Nos 20 & 21 be readvertised & that Cont No 22 be given to H.H. Vounard at 3/-/- per chain 2nd by Cr Laidlaw & Carried.
O/S Stated that portion of fence around plantations alog North Rd was useless & asked permission to reove same while repairing the fences - granted.
Resolved that Clerk write Mrs Fraser re gravel between 21st & 22nd mile posts West Mai Road. Resolved that Lock & spring be procured for Cemetery gates.
