Minutes of Meeting held on 13th July 1945 Present Crs H J Blacker, Jas Doudle, W G Morgan, R F Richardson, G C Smith & P Woods, also Clerk A H Taylor & Overseer K S McFarlane

Re Elected Clerk reported that Messrs R F Richardson, G C Smith & P Woods had been re elected unopposed as Councillors for Louth, Shannon & Lincoln Wards respectively. Allowance Prop Cr Smith/ Sec CrDoudle} That Chairmans Allowance for Current year be $25 paid quarterly in advance. Carried Chairman Prop Cr Richardson, Sec Cr Smith} That Cr WG Morgan be appointed Chairman for the ensuing 12 months. Carried Cr Morgan then took the Chair and thanked Councillors for their confidence in again appointing him as Chairman. Minutes of previous meeting read & Confirmed.

Finances Financial Statement showed a Credit Bal of £3199.4.4

Travelling Allow Prop Cr Doudle/ Sec Cr Blacker} That Councillors Travelling Allowance be 7/5 for the first mile and 1/3 each additional mile, one way. Carried

Assessment Revision Committee Prop Cr Richardson /Sec Cr Woods} That all Councillors be appointed on the Asssessment Revision Committee. Carried Meetings Prop Cr Woods/ Sec Cr Smith} That Council meets on 3rd February in each month at 11 am. Carried

Local Advisor Prop Cr Richardson/ Sec Cr Blacker } That Mr C R Doudy be retained as Councils Legal Advisor for 12 months. Carried

Prop Cr Smith/ Sec Cr Richardson} That Chairman and any one Councillor sign cheques, same to be counter signed by District Clerk. Carried.

Correspondence Surveyor General stating it is not usual for Dept to undertake surveys for a Council, but as it appears that Main Roads are affected if the Commr Highways is satisfied with the areas being obtained, the matter will be investigated when next a Surveyor is in the locality. Recd. Street Lights & Lighting in Cummins. Cummins Electric Supply in reply to Councils letter(re unsatisfactory lighting in Cummins) stating that their Big engine has been running for 12 months not fully loaded, and that all complaints received by them have been investigated.

Land for Aerodrome not for sale F L Thorpe in reply to Councils letter stating that she woud not consider selling portion of Sec 2w for an Aerodrome as it would make the farm too small. Recd Ambulance P L Hon Sec Pt Lincoln Citizens Ambulance Trust- Appeal for an Annual grant from Council for Maintenance of the Ambulance as in the past they have not been able to raise Sufficient funds. Held over for further information to be obtained by Clerk. Notice Board Cummins Post Master Cummins wrote again pointing out the unsatisfactory condition of Council Notice Board near Cummins P O. This was left in the hands of Cr Blacker.

Clothing for Unrra Hon Secy CWA Cummins Branch. That they are making an Appeal for clothing for 'Unrra' and will forward all Collections to Council Office as directed, and requesting Councils sanction. Clerk reported he had replied thanking them for their offer and accepting same but would advise them later of offer if clothes are to be consigned here or direct to Adelaide. Clerk was instructed to also write to CWA Yeelanna.

Re Wages Claim Secy E P Local Govt Association for Councils directions in respect to A W U Claim for variation in Workmens Award - The Council -Smith & Richardson- decided that the answers to the various questions as under :- 1. Six days cumulative sick leave per year - Yes 2. Payment for all Public Holidays - No 5 only 3. Two weeks Annual Leave per year - Yes 2 week 4. Weekly engagement - No 5. 3/- per day away from home 7 days per head - 3/- for 5 days only 6. Do you authorise Local Govt Assoc to act for uou - E P Branch only. Carried

Local Govt Assoc Local Govt Association re any business for the Annual Meeting to be held in Adelaide in September next. Recd

Carried.

Street Lights Cummis Prop Cr Blacker/ Sec Cr Richardson} That an additional six street lights be installed in Cummins as and where recommended by Progress Association. Carried.

Report Overseers Report for month read Prop Cr Doudle/ Sec Cr Richardson} That Overseers Report as read be adopted. Carried

Horse Hire Rate Prop Cr Richardson/ Sec Cr Smith} That the Hire of Horses for Grader work be increased to 7/6 per day as from 1st May as from 1st May 1945. Carried.

Requests Prop Cr Smith/ Sec Cr Doudle} That 3 months notice be given to Mrs D A Reynolds of the termination of lease of Road adjoining Sec 3 Hd Mitchell and Fence & gates to be removed. Carried. Cr Smith requested that the Main Road from Yeelanna to boundary of Cummins boundary be reconditioned. Granted. Also that crossing at Water course between Sec 1 and 2 Hd Shannon be repaired. Granted. Also that the road to Yeelanna trucking yard be graded. Granted Cr Blacker that CWA be granted permission to plant trees and fence same from stock on Main Road to Yallunda Flat. Granted. Also that the metal be blinded on road between Sec 19 and 21 Hd Cummins - This to be done if labour available.
