Mintutes of Council Meeting held Oct 21 st 1916

Present All. Cr Jas O'Shanahan in the Chair Minutes of Appeal & previous General read & Confirmed. Financial Statements submitted & read.

Correspondence Safes letters and quotations for second hand foire proof Safes were received from the Empire Agency Co. Winton & Co & HE Smith

Moved by Cr Hall " That the matter of purchasing a Safe be left in the Chairmans hands 2nd by Cr Puckridge - Carried

Letter from Bagots Executor & Trustee Co re wire Netting Instalment paid in 1913 on a/c of E Hawsons Estate, Resolved that Clerk reply & give particulars of the case. Letter from Victor. H. Ryan, asking for particulars re Mails between Adelaide & Lincoln Clerk to reply. Road between Ulipa & Kiana Requests received from WH McDonald & WT Wright To grub road between the Hds of Kiana & Ulipa from off west Main Road Moved by Cr Puckridge "That the Overseer inspect same & report at next meeting 2nd by Cr Hall & Carried

Netting Instalments Letters received from Kammerman Bros & P Kennedy stating that they could not pay the Instalments at present & asked the Council to hold same over till after harvest. Resolved that Clerk write the Commissioner Of Crown Lands & ask that all 1914 & 1915 Instalment not paid be held over till the coming harvest was completed.

Letter from Secretary Yeelanna Vigilance Committee re recoating Gregorys Contract at Yeelanna Also reuqested that 30 chains of Metalling be done between Blks 2 & 5 Hd Shannon. Clerk to reply that Gregorys Contract would be repaired & that no further work could be done at present on road between Blks 2 & 5 Hd. Shannon

Memo from S A Farmers Union re WJ Trimble meeting of Creditors - Clerk stated that all a/cs had been sent on

Letter from Mrs A Crawford re mallee trees on road adjoining her property, Resolved that Clerk inspect & have the necessary work done.

Rifle Range Letter from Secretary Port Lincoln Defence Rifle Club asking the Council to grant the Club a lease to shoot over that portion of Park Lands & road adjoining the Butts Moved by Cr Laidlaw "That a (5) Five Years lease be granted the Club & that the Rent be 1/- one shilling per annum. 2nd by Cr Forbes & Carried.

Gate on Road Letter from A. B. Langford requesting permission to erect gate across road through his property Moved by CR Morgan "That particulars be obtained before granting request. 2nd by Cr Puckridge Carried Letter from Hon A. Poynton. re having west coast mails closed at 11.30 in lieu of 10.30 received Ratings Gov Buildings Letter from Clerk Mitcham Dist Council re rating Gov Buildings - received. Netting Instalments Letter from Survey General Stating that £1,323-2-5 was still due for Netting Instalments & requesting the payment of same. Removal of Netting Moved by Cr Hall, "That the Clerk write the Commissioner of Crown Lands & Immigration Asking his Consent to remove wire netting from lands that had been cancelled. (Viz) Blks 43 Hd Mitchell, Blk 5 Hd Mortlock & Blk 4 Hd Warrow 2nd by Cr Morgan & Carried

Resolved that the Chairman approach the Commissioner while in Adelaide in reference to Netting on lands that had been abandoned, But not cancelled.

Councillor Forbes asked that road leading passed Mrs S Broughams be repaired also that road opposite A. R. Walters be put in prder - request granted

Councillor Laidlaw. Asked that Morton Bay Fig tree on Goodwins Corner be trimmed up (granted)

Cr Hall. Asked that the overseer inspect & report on road leading to Blacks. Also inspect & report on road from Pillana to Lears. Also that Holes in road between Palms & Fitzgeralds be repaired (granted) Also asked that Iron stone gravel be spread over Railway Terrace at Yeelanna - resolved that same be done provided the Cost did not exceed £3Also asked that Overseer inspect & report on road North of Yeelanna (granted) Also reported that I Halls had not returned to his Contracts at Cummins Resolved that Cr h Hall be empowered to relet the Contracts provided that the cost did exceed the original price, Also asked that Tenders be called for 10 chains of metalling North of Cummins (granted)

Councillor Morgan. "Asked that Tenders be called for grubbing & making catch drain on road leading to Dutton Bay (Near Scrubys) (granted) Also asked that about 3 chains of road be picked up & regravelled near the 25th mile post west Main Rd. (granted) & resolved that the work be offered to G. R. Langford. Also asked what the overseer had done in reference to unregistered Dogs.

Councillors Hall & Puckridge asked that Mount Hope & Yeelanna be places appointed for registration of Dogs - granted

Cr Hall drew attention to the Rubbish Depot at Cummins & asked that particulars of same be looked up for next meeting.

Cr O'Shanahan asked that Clerk write Vermin Board about Rabbits on road between Tennants & Dr Rose's land White River & ask that the Board take steps to have same destroyed.

Assessment of Gov Building Assessment of Government Buildings (occupied) was submitted & Considered Moved by Cr Morgan "That assessment as submitted be adopted 2nd by Cr Forbes - Carried

Appeals Resolved that Saturday November 18th 1916 at 3 oclock be the day to hear appeals if any against the assessment

Accounts General Funds £159-3-9- Main Rd 80-15-4 A/c A 53-1-6 Moved by Cr Morgan "That the accounts as read be passed for Payment, 2nd by Cr Puckridge - Carried

Cr Hall stated "That he had let work to P.D. Ryan Costing 30/-
