Annual Meeting

Minutes of the Herron Morton Place Association Meeting - Sept. 10, 1990

President Joe Ellen Rowe called the meeting to order at 7:15.

The Secretary's minutes were read and approved.

Terry Prentkowski gave the treasurers report. It was approved subject to audit. The balance on hand as of Sept. 1, 1990 was $15, 244.53.

Committee Reports

Crime Prevention Glenda Chesser gave a report of all the crimes in the area recently.

A discussion followed concerning the stolen truck and arrest of the driver who is to be let go.

It was moved & seconded that a letter be sent to the prosecutor and mayor, Janet Lesniak and Goldsmith and police roll call. And a follow up letter be sent to TV stations if there is no response.

Financial Terry Prentkowski asked that everyone turn in receipts this week so the books can be audited.

Grievance Duke Earl reported 4 abandoned cars, problems with dumpsters, and 3 boarded houses.

Membership Duke reported 127 members.

Cleanup Pat Delaney reported that the clean up before the Art Fair went well with about a dozen workers. Only 3 people worked on clean-up before the Home Tour so they couldn't do as much. Pat volunteered to work next year.

Beautification Gil Turpin reported that the flower sale made a little money and many friends

Publicity Steve Oberreich reported that there are still some T shirts for sale. Some were sold at the Art Fair.

Art Fair Bill Chesser said things went well and vendors ever happy with sales. About $7,000 profit was made.

Historic Preservation Tim Hammond reported that the archives have been organized - Lots of exciting work is going on in the neighborhood. - Owners of the Barton House are negociating with Historic Landmarks - The new phone booth at 19th and Delaware is in violation of Historic District rules - The city is looking into boarded buildings and wants to work out a time frame. - The house at 1805 N. Alabama is wide open

Newsletter Bill Chesser said copy is needed and the deadline is Friday.

Programs Annie Clark said it has been a good year. - (Upbeat)

Home Tour Terry Prentkowski reported that there was no money profit but drew in many more people than before, about 270 people, He thanked everyone for all their work

Long Range Planning Steve Oberreich reported contacting Ball State and that classes will come to look at neighborhood.
